steel industry

Steel is used in almost every industry. Suitable pre-treatment of steel before the surface treatment process helps the steel surface to achieve a good finish.

Pickling:

The process of removal of scales and oxides from the surface of steel using acids, before further processes such as cold rolling, drawing, or forming are carried out. After hot rolling, when steel is cooling, the oxygen in the atmosphere reacts with the iron to form Scale. Pickling process is done to remove these scales to prepare the steel surface for further treatment.

Phosphating:

It has been in use for many years and has proved beneficial as a metal pre-treatment before painting. Phosphating provides outstanding corrosion protection and effective paint adhesion. Phosphating also improves frictional properties of sliding components. Manganese Phosphating is typically applied on gears and engine components which are prone to sliding. Zinc Phosphating is typically applied to provide resistance from corrosion.

Growel has supplied surface finishing plants for a range of automotive components. Few of which are mentioned below:

  • Steel Coils
  • Wire Rods
  • Sheets
  • Tubes and Bars
  • Many More

Surface Finishing provides several benefits for Automotive components:

  • Improves Surface Finish
  • Eliminates Surface Irregularities
  • Extends die life
  • Corrosion and Wear Resistance

To achieve the above-mentioned benefits various processes are employed on the components:
