Environmental awareness has, in recent years, encompassed the globe, and increasingly stringent laws are being enacted to regulate toxic substance. Among others, the use of hexavalent chromium, a substance widely used as an effective coating for the prevention of rust, is likely to be regulated. Responding to this, Zinc Flake Coating has gained popularity.
Use of small components such as Fasteners, nuts, bolts, screws, nails are unavoidable in the industry, these parts provide strength to larger structurers. Protective coatings of higher thickness can be achieved for these large components, but higher film thickness is a limitation for small parts.
Conventionally, protective coatings like blackening, plating and phosphating are used to provide protection against corrosion for small components but recent demands in the industry are leaning towards coatings which are environment friendly. In other words, coatings must provide sufficient protection to parts without adversely affecting the environment. Zinc Aluminium Flake coating is one such solution to provide protection against corrosion for such components.
Zinc flake coating is a water/solvent based corrosion preventive coating technology. Film thickness is gradually built on surface with 2 or 3 coats. Different topcoats can also be used to modify the coefficient of friction. Growel caters to a wide range of clients, and depending on the throughput required, customized plants can also be realised.
It generally has a coating thickness of 6-15 microns and resistance to salt spray test in the range of 700-1500 hours. The components also develop a high coefficient of friction.
